Aloe Vera Cubes

Eureka!!! I finally found a way of storing my Aloe Vera Juice which ensures that I only thaw what I need. I had asked my brother to bring me some Aloe Vera leaves over the weekend, I thought he would bring 3 like I had previously asked for lo and behold he turns up with 10 huge leaves! I was at a loss on how to freeze them after extracting and blending the pulp to get the juice. I usually only get enough leaves to make 2 cups at a time and those were much easier to store as I would store them in 2 freezer bags. Here I was with 2  litres ( 8 cups) of AVJ when an idea popped up in my head; how about using ice cube trays to freeze the juice. I had seen people on YouTube store baby food, fresh herbs in oil, homemade stock cubes and other stuff this way so I figured I may as well do the same with my AVJ; I make all sorts of ice cubes as well mostly chocolate and milk based stuff I wonder why I never thought of storing AVJ this way before. Anyway I borrowed extra ice cube trays from my friend and froze the AVJ in two batches, popped them into a freezer bag, labelled them and put them back into the freezer. This batch should last me at least 6-8 months maybe more.

This is the best storage method for AVJ in my opinion as you only get to thaw what you need. Before I would thaw an entire freezer bag take what I need and refreeze what I did not use. I had so much AVJ this time round I added some to my body lotion, conditioner and carrot crème moisturizer. Go here to see how I make my homemade AVJ.

  3. What an awesome idea! I would have been at a loss on what to do with all of that. Very smart! :)
Now that I think of it, I have some marshmallow root and slippery elm bark that I steeped in the fridge that I will have to throw away. Next time I steep a batch I will use the ice tray idea! Thanks for sharing this!

    1. Yes it does the things you can store this way are so many and the AVJ also helps heal cuts, bruises and soothes sunburn so it's great to have some handy in the freezer to use as needed.
