Hmmmm.......

At what point does one realise that their hairline is receding and starts doing something about it? Looking at photos of women whose hairline has receded almost four inches and the first question that comes to mind is did you not notice it at ½ inch or even one inch? Like seriously how does one let their hairline get that damaged barring a medical condition…anyway my cousin posted a recent photo of herself yesterday on Facebook and the first thing I noticed was her receding hairline it is almost one inch gone! I promptly sent her a message asking if she had noticed her hairline receding, she said yes she and even a couple of other people actually asked about it in the comment section of that photo. She has been weaving back to back all year long for convenience; in her own words “I am so careless with my own hair”. I told her to go slow on the weaves use a wig if she has to and just let her hair breathe and restore her hairline before weaving again. I told her about castor oil and onion juice treatments and she said she would consider trying them out I just hope she does because she has beautiful thick armpit length hair at the moment and it would be a shame if her hairline receded even further. I plan to text a “have you purchased your castor oil yet?” reminder to her in a few days.

That being said only she can make the decision on whether she wants her hairline back or not because I have realised that unless someone wants something for themselves it doesn’t matter the advice given they will not take it if they are not ready to. One of the girls who braids my hair on the regular has a similar receding hairline problem thanks to back to back weave installations which I noticed earlier on in the year. Naturally the hair blogger in me suggested castor oil I specifically told her to get pure liquid castor oil but from the conversation it seemed she was not keen on the pure liquid version and kept mentioning Blue Magic castor oil so I didn’t push it further. When she was doing my hair about two months later there was no difference to her hairline it was still bare but thankfully did not look like it was receding further. Fast forward to few weeks back when I went to get my Ghana braids done by her she noticed how full my previously sparse edges had become I told her if you had bought the castor oil that I told you to get, you too would have a full hairline like mine LOL! She assured me that she was going to get on the castor oil and onion juice regimen I just hope she does at least she has now seen proof. The problem with most stylists is they don’t like to be told since they are professionals they think they know better and this in my opinion was probably the case here anyway it’s her hairline and I have done my part just hope she does hers.

Happy December happy festive month!!! Favourite time of the year!!!

  1. Even before I started taking care of my hair I knew tight weaves, wigs and braids caused your hairline to receed yet I see sooo many women walking around with this problem like they don't have a mirror.

    1. So true most are probably in denial about it that's why it keeps receding further before they wake up and do something about it.

  2. When my hairline got affected by my bunning I noticed it so quick, your hair line is everything it shouldn't take a comment from someone for you to notice, but as you have said if they are not ready they will not hear it one bit, so you have done your part!

    1. I am very quick as well to notice when something is off with my hair and body by extension and will always take action immediately. I just hope they do something soon before it recedes further.

    1. Lol girl I had to go back to your blog and check your pics out you are all right:) Yes receding hairlines do happen when people wear styles that pull tightly on the hairline (too tight buns, pontytails, braids and cornrows) all the time causing stress to the fragile hair around hairline and end up losing it due to breakage.

    1. That's great Ozoz keep it that way:) Castor oil is amazing great reviews by almost everyone who uses it and a lot of people who were previously balding have reported results of hair growth after doing the onion juice regimen.
